Merel Rumping

Merel initiated LegBank, because of her experiences of living and working in Colombia, where she learnt about the problems amputees face to access prosthetics.

Her ability to understand the culture and skill to be fluent in Spanish, combined with her extensive network in Colombia are essential for LegBank's success. Merel developed the consortium, is project lead and supports LegBank to optimize its route to market.

Senior Research Fellow at the National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics (NCPO). He is essential for LegBank’s innovation and product development activities due to his extensive experience in prosthetic research and knowledge transfer in BoP-economies, his many publications on the topic of prosthetics and large international network. Dr. Buis invented the basic principle of the Majicast.

Arjan Buis

Senior Research Fellow at the National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics (NCPO).

He is essential for LegBank’s innovation and product development activities due to his extensive experience in prosthetic research and knowledge transfer in BoP-economies, his many publications on the topic of prosthetics and large international network. Dr. Buis invented the basic principle of the Majicast.

Has conducted field research with relevant stakeholders in the orthopedic market in Colombia, including CPOs, lab managers and other public and private education and health related institutions to validate and further develop LegBank’s value proposition. Currently working in the implementation of LegBank, with special focus on the development of the rural business model (service).

Susana Herrera

Strategic Designer at ProPortion. Joined LegBank in February 2015.

Carlos has seven years of experience in the field of orthopedic care in Colombia and is currently in collaboration with our Colombian collaegue Edilberto, preparing the establishment of an orthopedic clinic in a rural area.




Founder and Director of ProPortion. His passion for making technology meaningful for people came to light while working as new business developer at TNO, an applied research institute. Afterwards he specialized in “human-centered design”; a creative method to convert human-centred insights into value propositions, product/service design concepts and new business models. Thomas afterwards founded ProPortion.

Specialized in “human-centered design”; a creative method to convert human-centred insights into value propositions, product/service design concepts and new business models, Thomas supports LegBank in developing the service model for provision of prosthetic services in rural areas. Also founder and Director of ProPortion.

Edilberto Virguez Marin
Clinician LegBank Colombia

Experienced certified prosthetist/ clinician based in Colombia, with a degree from the National Program of Prosthetics and Orthotics “SENA” in Bogotá. Edilberto supports LegBank in developing a model for provision of prosthetic services in rural areas.


 

Extra partners

Orthopedic Centre CENOP has offered orthopedic devices to clients in Medellín for over the last 10 years. In May 2016 the LegBank team traveled to Colombia demonstrate the Majicast to over 20 Colombian Clinicians at CENOP in Medellín. CENOP has supported LegBank from the very beginning.

The University of EIA is to be one of the best engineering universities in Colombia, recognized nationally and internationally for quality of engineers and professionals it produces and additionally recognized for its applied research results and their subsequent effect and contribution to society. Together with Strathclyde University, EIA will research the functioning of the Majicast.

Orthopedic centre Gilete has over 25 years of experience in providing orthopedic services to clients, especially in the field of prosthesis, orthosis,and mobility. Not only Gilete creates ortopedic devices for clients, she also imports and distributes orthopedic components to other Colombian CPO's. In May 2016 the LegBank team traveled to Colombia to do a demonstration of the Majicast at Gilete, who has been very supportive.

The Technical University Delft has been providing technical education for over 170 years. hosts over 19,000 students and is the largest and oldest Dutch public technological university. Over the past two years, eight students from TU Delft have collaborated in doing research for the LegBank and one of them was hired this year as a fulltime employee.
