ProPortion (2008) initiated LegBank in 2014. ProPortion is a creative organization that realizes social businesses that serve low-income consumer groups in developing economies. Currently, ProPortion is incubating social businesses in Bangladesh, Kenya and Colombia. In addition to this, the team offers their methodology, knowledge and creativity as a service to existing NGOs and companies moving into the domain of social business. ProPortion aims to secure financial sustainability to scale and replicate solutions that deliver social impact, worldwide. ProPortion’s expertise on business modelling in combination with its network in Colombia is crucial to fully implement LegBank and guarantee the business model around both product and service is viable.

Susana Herrera; Junior Strategic Designer at ProPortion.
Joined LegBank in February 2015. Has conducted field research with relevant stakeholders in the orthopedic market in Colombia, including CPOs, lab managers and other public and private education and health related institutions to validate and further develop LegBank’s value proposition. Currently working in the implementation of LegBank, with special focus on the development of the rural business model (service).

The experiences of living and working in Colombia made her discover the potential of social entrepreneurship and learn about the problems amputees face to access prosthetics, inspiring ProPortion to initiate LegBank. Her ability to understand the culture and skill to be fluent in Spanish, combined with her extensive network in Colombia are essential for LegBank's success.
Thomas Schuurmans; Founder and Director of ProPortion.
His passion for making technology meaningful for people came to light while working as new business developer at TNO, an applied research institute. Afterwards he specialized in “human-centered design”; a creative method to convert human-centred insights into value propositions, product/service design concepts and new business models. Thomas afterwards founded ProPortion.
The National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics (NCPO) and the Biomedical Engineering Department of the Strathclyde University in Glasgow (UK) are internationally recognized centers of excellence for education and research at the interface between engineering and life sciences. The departments have developed a rich research environment contributing to innovative research programmes and collaborations, which are supported through its established clinical and industrial multidisciplinary networks. Strathclyde is in charge of the educational component in LegBank, training the partners in Colombia that will work with the Majicast. Also, their involvement guarantees scientific justification of the Majicast to gain trust among clients and distributor.
Arjan Buis; Senior Research Fellow at the National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics (NCPO). He is essential for LegBank’s innovation and product development activities due to his extensive experience in prosthetic research and knowledge transfer in BoP-economies, his many publications on the topic of prosthetics and large international network. Dr. Buis invented the basic principle of the Majicast.
REGGS is an interdisciplinary design agency with a team of 30 professionals specialized in user interface design and product engineering with experience in medical design, automotive and packaging projects for companies such as Philips and Heineken & Löwenstein.

Together with Wolter Prinsen; Innovation Manager at Reggs, she is in charge of Majicast embodiment design and engineering, product contextualization and user evaluation with the Majicast, both in the Netherlands and Colombia.
de Hoogstraat (1946) is an expert adviser on the needs of amputees in terms of clinical requirements and mobility solutions to maintain a high quality of life. They have collaborated in several research trajectories, and have played a role in advising and supporting international disability projects. De Hoogstraat’s expertise is important for clinical justification of the Majicast. Also it offers possibilities for piloting; for testing the product with patients in the Netherlands.
Marcel Conradi; Director of Orthopedic center de Hoogstraat.
He has worked as a Prosthetist/Orthotist for over 30 years. He is supporting testing and user evaluation protocols, both in the Netherlands and Colombia.
This university is the largest and oldest Dutch public technological university, located in Delft, Netherlands. With eight faculties and numerous research institutes it hosts over 19,000 students (undergraduate and postgraduate), more than 3,300 scientists.
LegBank has been lucky to work with 8 great master students from the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at TUDelft during its conceptualizing and development phases. Their contributions constituted the stepping stones of what LegBank is and aims to become.
