With these solutions, we want to tackle several current issues.
MAJICAST > During our research we learned that the prosthetic socket was the only handcrafted element, most time-consuming to produce and most risk-involving part of a prosthesis. The socket is the component that connects a the prosthesis to a person’s residual limb and is therefore crucial for walking comfortably. So we started to look for techniques that could make the production of sockets better and more efficient.
APP > Administrative paper work for orthopedic clinics has increased exponentially, due to the introduction of a new law (resolución 2968) that requires new sorts of documentation, procedures and forms. Doing this manually is time-consuming and inefficient. By executing these activities in an effective way, operational costs could be reduced and quality could be increased thus allowing lab owners to focus on delivery of care. LegBank turned their existing paper forms into digital forms, allowing the clinics to do their administration more efficiently, whilst at the same time implementing quality checks throughout their processes.
BLUE PRINT > Worldwide 30 million people need orthopedic care but have limited or no access to it. Reasons; 1. Prosthetic care is worldwide highly centralized. This deeply affects rural patients; these hard to reach populations have limited access to care. Sometimes, ineffective mobile brigades are being organised; the downside is that patients have no point of contact if then later problems reoccur, which is very often the case. 2. Local clinicians face several obstacles to start their own clinic; they lack the seed investment, and have no experience with the ‘business side’ of running a clinic. Clinics have manual time-consuming administration, and incomplete patient data, unqualified machines / facilities that do not comply with the law, leading to unprofessional, low quality care.
We believe that by supporting clinicians with 'non-care activities', the quality of care will increase, while at the same time decentralisation to rural areas will increase access to care for patients.
